Words from the Club Chairman Paul Richardson

12/04/2024

Regarding current events, the following statement has been provided by Club Chairman Paul Richardson:

You may or may not know, but there are 46 teams across Kingswood United. This makes us one of the largest clubs in Hull and the East Riding and does come with its challenges.

As a committee, we’re working to streamline operations within the club which are run purely by volunteers. We’re also working to ensure we have the best facilities available.

Over the coming months, you’ll see several changes including playing and training facilities, announcements regarding the Bude Park development, club brand and identity and extra opportunities for player and coach development. A lot is going on in the background.

As I’m now sure most of you are aware, we’ve started enrolling all club members onto our new digital club management platform My Club Hub. This platform will become mandatory for all member registrations, sub’s payments, communication, pitch bookings and provide a general overview of all the ongoings at Kingswood United FC.

We recently had great news that we’re now able to privately hire Kingswood Academy on a weekend to ensure more games can be facilitated!! The coaches and committee members voted at the last managers meeting to increase minimum subscription costs. Raising club fees is never an easy decision, but, due to the shortage of local fit for purpose pitches, it’s something we’ve had to do to maximise the opportunity that games once again can be played more regularly.

The increase in fees has allowed us to strike up an agreement with the Kingswood Academy Facilities management company and, after months of discussions and support from local councillors, it allows us to once again play football on their site. The pitches at Kinloss will be shuffled around to allow more junior pitches to be facilitated whilst the more senior teams relocate to Kingswood Academy on a weekend for matches.

Trying to unite the club and ensure all teams have access to quality facilities is a challenging process for so many different reasons, but we’re now slowly able to see progress. The extra funds generated will also see investment into pitch quality at Kinloss to improve drainage on site once this season has finished.

The Bude Park Development is edging closer to being started as you’ll soon start to see with a press release due from the council and approved contractor imminently. With an 18 month expected completion date, it’s again looking very positive for the future with improved facilities which’ll become available for use to our club.

I look forward to being able to welcome youth teams back to Kinloss this weekend and finally relaunch our soccer school. I am very grateful to every single player, member, sponsor and councillor who continue to support us and allows the club to provide a football opportunity for our community.

Most importantly, I thank those volunteers, coaches and committee members that invest endless amounts of time and effort behind the scenes which enables every child and adult to enjoy playing the beautiful game with their friends.

I look forward to updating you all again soon and inviting you to our AGM which will be announced shortly.

Yours in Sport
Paul Rico
